You've finally chosen your wedding dress and all you can think about is the next fitting! Yes, the fitting in the wedding dress shop is always too short and full of emotion. We took photos and looked at them carefully, dreaming of our beloved dress. Once the dress has been chosen, it's time to think about the accessories. The second fitting is all about choosing the accessories that will complete your bridal look. Choose your bridal jewellery, a veil or hat, a pair of gloves and, of course, your shoes. It's best not to make any mistakes!
Today we're zooming in on bridal jewellery and, more specifically, what colour your jewellery will be.
There are four main categories of wedding dress colours: white, ivory, cream and coloured.
An ivory wedding dress or a white bridal gown ?
White is obviously an easy colour to match. Your jewellery can be white, but also silver or transparent. Materials such as transparent Swarovski crystal or silver rhinestone balls are perfectly suited to a white dress.White or light grey pearls will add softness and purity to your jewellery. Don't hesitate to play the shine card to add sparkle to your dress.
The ivory wedding dress
This is a light ivory that can be described as off-white. Wild silk wedding dresses often have this light ivory colour. Depending on the material of your dress, whether taffeta, organza, crepe or satin, the ivory will be a different shade. It is impossible to have bridal jewellery that perfectly matches the colour of your dress, the important thing is to get close to it.
If the ivory is light, i.e. off-white, we would choose pearl white jewellery. The following example shows the Angélique bridal necklace, created by Princesse d'un Jour, which is made from seed pearls and pearly white pearls. This is a softer white than pure white and goes perfectly with light ivory bridal wear. The facets of the seed pearl add a touch of sparkle while remaining discreet and refined.
The cream wedding dress
Cream, but also deep ivory or champagne fall into this colour category. A white or silver bridal necklace would be completely unsuitable for this type of dress. Cream is a refined, soft colour. If you choose a pearl necklace, be careful with the colour of the pearls - it's best to choose cream pearls. Honey or transparent gold shades will add sparkle if you're looking for shine. For a softer look, cream seed pearls from Princesse d'un Jour will add a touch of elegance.
A coloured wedding dress
Is your wedding dress coloured or partially coloured? Are you hesitating whether to choose a white/cream or coloured bridal necklace? When you've chosen a coloured wedding dress, I think you should play the game right to the end and go for either coloured or bi-coloured white/coloured jewellery. A small example is the Cristal necklace from the Princesse d'un Jour collection, made to measure for one of our customers in transparent and burgundy crystal. A mix of transparency and colour that brought originality to the bride's ensemble and perfect harmony with her burgundy dress.
